British Oil brand Duckhams launches in Malaysia and Singapore

Duckhams, the much-loved oil brand, known around the world for its distinctive green hue has re- launched in Malaysia with a press conference and ceremony hosted at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday 27th June 2019. Present were representatives from the five Asean region distributors present alongside the UK, Europe and Middle-East Directors of the historic British oil brand.

Duckhams has been inextricably linked to British motoring heritage since 1899. Duckhams invented Europe’s first ever Multi-grade oil, Duckhams Q in 1951, an advancement that changed the face of automotive lubricants forever. Now, from July 2019 the company will make its long-awaited return to the Asean Region.

During the launch, representatives from the five distributors that will be the custodians of the British heritage brand in Malaysia and Singapore joined the group of British Entrepreneurs to share the story of the brand’s rebirth. The historic occasion was also witnessed by the Deputy British High Commissioner to Malaysia – David Thomas who was the guest of honour alongside with the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce Executive Director – Jennifer Lopez.

Jabir Sheth, Chairman of Duckhams addressed the launch gathering and explained,

The acquisition of the Duckhams brand has been backed by our combined experience of more than fifty years of fuel and convenience retailing in the UK. Following our successful relaunches in the UK of our classic car and mainstream passenger car oils, our aim is to be present in over 50 markets by 2030 and today’s beginning in the Asean region is a key part of that story. We will remain supremely agile, and passionate about offering the best quality, whilst celebrating our prestigious heritage brand.

The British brand has sourced the very best raw materials for a perfect combination of heritage and innovation to create motor oils that deliver unrivalled protection and superb performance that meet or exceed the specifications demanded by the world’s key car manufacturers. Duckhams re – launches in the Asean region with a comprehensive portfolio of lubricants in a range that includes their traditional Q20W-50 for older vehicles, Duckhams HyperK, Duckhams QS and QXR to cover a vast range of passenger vehicles from classic cars to the latest petrol and diesel engine vehicles.

Jennifer Lopez, Executive Director of British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce BMCC congratulate and wish Alexander Duckhams & Co. Ltd continuous success and further expansion not just in Malaysia but also the entire ASEAN market.

K.R Venkataraman, CEO for Duckhams Oils celebrated the brand and said,

We continue to engage with the worldwide automotive community. In the UK through a partnership with the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs. In Thailand, the Duckhams brand has a strong network of distributors servicing a loyal and long-standing customer base. In January 2019, the historic oil brand also launched in the Middle-East with a ceremony to mark the occasion with established local distributor Ahmed Yar Group.

The list of names that have been associated with Duckhams over the years includes many of the stars of motorsport. Lola, Ford, Audi and Lotus all used our oils when competing. James Hunt went to Formula 1 with Duckhams backing and rally ace Ari Vatanen won the World Rally Drivers Championship with a Duckhams Ford Escort to name but two. More recently in 2016, the oil brand supported a budding young female rally driver Louise Cook to continue her career in rallying.
