Garage 59 Reveals British GT Plans

British racing team, Garage 59, will return to the British GT Championship in 2024 with a formidable line-up across a pair of McLaren 720S GT3 Evos. After a strong showing in 2023 when the team finished an excruciating half point shy of a Silver-Am Championship victory, Garage 59 is getting the big guns out for 2024.

In the orange corner, in a striking Cazoo-liveried McLaren, is the popular British GT pairing of Marcus Clutton and Morgan Tillbrook. This winning Pro-Am partnership has competed together in British GT for the past three seasons, under the Enduro Motorsport banner, before teaming up with Garage 59 for 2024, where they hope to add to their triple tally of wins.

Clutton said: “We feel that the move to Garage 59 is the final ingredient for a championship attack. We can race without the stress of running a team and focus 100% on our preparation and driving.”

In the blue and yellow corner, in a McLaren resplendent in the iconic Duckhams livery, reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB Champion, Adam Smalley, will take on the GT3 Silver-Am category alongside British GT veteran Shaun Balfe. Fresh from his recent championship win, this will be Adam’s first season in the British GT Championship.

Smalley, who tested for the Ford GT3 programme in the off season, said: “I’m delighted to have signed for Garage 59 for the 2024 British GT Championship. After winning the Porsche Carrera Cup GB title last season, I feel this is the perfect move for my motorsport career. It’ll be a big step up but I know Garage 59 will give me the best shot at challenging at the sharp end of the field. I’d like to say thank you to Duckhams, Yuasa and all of my partners who have given me this opportunity and made it possible. I can’t wait to get the season underway.”

Shaun Balfe is a name synonymous with success in British GT and was on board the McLaren 720S GT3, which claimed the manufacturer’s first British GT class victory for that car in 2019. More recently, he ended his 2023 season as a double race winner and is ready to add to that tally this year alongside Adam.

The 2024 British GT Championship will begin with its traditional pair of Easter Weekend races at Oulton Park, before taking in some of the UK’s top circuits and the ever-iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

Garage 59 Team Principal, Andrew Kirkaldy said: “I’m really pleased with our British GT line-ups for 2024. I think both crews have winning potential in their respective categories so our job is to give them everything they need to do just that.”
